EQ Vs IQ

EQ or Emotional Quotient. We have heard about it many times in various personality development workshops. Gaining control over our own emotions is a tough task. Easier said than done! But it works.

Have seen many people around who have successfully lead/ leading their lives as they had/ have better EQ than others. Academic Excellence (or Intelligence Quotient) sometimes is not enough to get through your life and be successful. Management gurus would always be found talking about EQ. They say.. 'human relations is the most complicated type of management.' When you deal with people there are no readily available templates. Each one is unique!

Whether in public or personal relations, avoiding friction is the key. Yes, however, one should not compromise on their principles. One can only get better at their EQ by learning a skill called critical conversation. There are different ways with which you can avoid friction between individuals such as silence, ignorance, walking away or mutually thinking through the solution. Each situation demands different type. Those who try to avoid confrontation and push it until next time often find themselves in trouble.

We learn mainly from our life shaping experiences and our environment. It is easier sometimes to learn from others' experiences as well without having to go through the trouble yourself. Friends and elders normally try to preach you. That's the reason why!

Just like everything else you can practice to improve your EQ. I am going to work on mine and you...?
