"अगं  बघ जरा, आकाशाकडे बघ;

The Recipe

Lately and surprisingly, I am taking interest in food - both eating and cooking. Once very ignorant of how it's made (rather didn't care about it), I have started admiring the process. Perhaps because I have no option but to cook...sigh! Jokes apart, if you start liking what you are doing then that's the first step to get yourself on the path of excellence.

From the thought of having a homemade, fresh and scrumptious meal, its preparation, to finally enjoying it with your family; every step is an experience in itself.

You need to 'Plan' your meal before you actually make it. Hence the cooking process cannot be belittled by common phrases such as 'fixing lunch' or 'fixing dinner'. It requires a thorough understanding of nutritional facts as well as what goes well together in terms of tastes and characteristics. That's where it gets boring for many and fast food comes handy. I am not an exception either. Been there, done that, you know!

Well, let's talk about the interesting part of the process. I asked myself a question, 'why do we like the way chefs cook on a TV show and why does cooking have to be so boring for me?' The answer is - presentation, neatness, cleanliness, and the most important thing; a beautiful and organized kitchen. These are a few noticeable reasons. Then why not, right? I organized my kitchen, decorated it with beautiful(not costly) items such as flowers. Kept the utensils in a way that there won't be a mess when I fetch them from the drawers and cupboards. Made the space more inviting. It feels even great when your guests admire it as well.

I started cutting veggies in a fashion where little or no mess would be created for me to clean up after cooking. I tell you I haven't gotten that far yet where I enjoy cleaning the mess day in day out.

The colors are equally important for the meal to be enjoyable. At least 3 to 4 colors on your plate make the meal very desirable. And scientifically, your tummy secretes good amount of digestive juices for better digestion.

When the steamy hot veggies cook in various spices giving each other a flavor of their own and blending in one tasty concoction...it is delightful to your senses. It is a great and endless amusement park for those who want to take every ride with courage and confidence.  The permutations and combinations of ingredients give us boundless possibilities and sweet/savory tastes. It's magic in a nutshell!

Cannot believe I wrote so much about cooking! Well, baking is my new adventure. The thought is making me hungry. While I grab a bite for myself, you too relish on your favorite food and have lots of fun!! Catch you later. B'bye.

Common Conscience

Have you ever experienced a heart to heart chat with a complete stranger on a flight or in a train en route to a common destination?

I know I often get philosophical when it comes to writing. I started off with a blog post thinking I would write something fun. Seems philosophy amuses me more than anything and I ended up posting more serious discussions.

Yes, we get on a train, a bus or a flight and the passenger next to us talks about something and we get engrossed into a long, deep conversation....happens sometimes, right? Likewise in our journey of life we converse with many people about our common topic or subject of interest and share our views and opinions. At times they tend to match with that of the other person. We all have different roots, teachings, field of work, varieties of food, clothing etc. But somewhere we are all connected with a common thread and that thread is implanted in our souls when we come into existence here. (I do not intend to state or preach anything here.)

Beyond all the differences and divisions in our society, this one thing that I would like to call "common conscience" or "universal conscience" keeps us all united. Don't you think so? Let me make it clear that I am not the first person to say this neither do I want to seek any credit for anything.

Well, this common conscience guides us while we are dealing with a complete stranger, while we are making any crucial decisions, right?

You will ask me - "So what do you have to say?"
My answer would be - "That's it! Nothing else."

Painting

I'm sure I got it in the genes from my mom...a habit of doodling around if I get a paper and a pencil ...I just start to scribble. Sometimes shapes that fit geometrical standards and sometimes just meaningless (rambling of) imagination. With the advent of mobile gadgets - haven't left them untouched either.

While at work at times I was caught embarrassed doing that. However, I figured it was helping me focus more on the task and with problem solving. If you code for 6 days a week at work, you tend to make such excuses. No...I used to love my work.

I started drawing some meaningful shapes, faces, flowers and objects over the years. It all started making sense gradually. Don't know how it all happens but seems like magic. When plan to create a painting and grab my easel and colors...I've seen that it doesn't manifest as you want upon planning. It just has to come from somewhere and then everything seems to work in that direction. I'm talking about the subject or theme of my paintings. All the colors get mixed really well, I don't need either a ruler to draw straight lines, nor I require a stencil. Everything just falls in place at that time.

I think with training I might get better. But then I cannot make it happen every time I decide to after watching videos on how to hold the brush and how to make strokes. You know what I mean...?!

In all these years the one thing that I have noticed about my paintings is that it is always as good as its inspiration is! Yes, at least that theory has been consistent. I feel blessed to have been inspired and been able to portray it. I pray to get inspired more & more and express my deep gratitude to the almighty for granting me senses to feel and express.
